Setting a Third Party E-mail Client or Mobile Device to Get UFV Employee or Student E-mail

Can I use a 3rd party mail client or mobile device to get UFV email?  What are the Exchange settings?

Follow the instructions of your specific program or device to set this up. Contact vendor support or search the Help menu within your email client program or device. You will need to know your username, password, e-mail address, and the server information below:

EMPLOYEES :  

Please note the Outlook 2016 client (previously available through the now discontinued UFV Microsoft Home User Program) does not allow for configuration with UFV Exchange email. It is recommended that employees use a newer version of Outlook or Office 365.

Username:  Network username

Password:    Network password

E-mail: firstname.lastname@ufv.ca

Note: Depending on the device, the Domain field sometimes requires ad-ufv\ instead of ad-ufv.  If you are experiencing issues, we recommend trying both ad-ufv and ad-ufv\.

 

Apple Mail settings:

  • Select Exchange as mail type
  • Enter e-mail address
  • Select configure Manually
  • Enter password
  • Server address: webmail.ufv.ca
  • Domain: ad-ufv
  • Note: Depending on the device, the Domain field sometimes requires ad-ufv\ instead of ad-ufv.  If you are experiencing issues, we recommend trying both ad-ufv and ad-ufv\
  • Username: Network username
  • Password: Network password 
  • Select options to sync (ex:  Contacts, Calendar, tasks, etc.)

 

Android E-mail settings:

  • Select Microsoft Exchange
  • Enter E-mail address & password
  • Select Manual Setup
  • Server address (sometimes referred to as Server, Mail server, incoming server, etc.): webmail.ufv.ca
  • Domain: ad-ufv
  • Note: Depending on the device, the Domain field sometimes requires ad-ufv\ instead of ad-ufv.  If you are experiencing issues, we recommend trying both ad-ufv and ad-ufv\.
  • Port number: 443
  • Username: Network username
  • Password: Network password
  • User secure connection (SSL): Yes
  • Client certificate: None
  • Allow Remote security administration
  • Select options to sync (ex: Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, etc.)
  • Account name:  Name of the account listed in the mail app.

 

Gmail Client Settings:

  • Select Exchange
  • Enter e-mail address
  • Select Manual Setup
  • Select Exchange
  • Enter Network password
  • Domain\Username: ad-ufv\Network username             (This will auto-populate with your e-mail address, which is incorrect)
  • Client Certificate: None
  • Server: webmail.ufv.ca
  • Port: 443
  • Security Type: SSL/TLS
  • Additional information:   Outbound Server: mail.ufv.ca
  • Alternatively, the outbound server may be set to your own ISP settings.

 

STUDENTS: 

Due to SMTP configuration on the server, POP and IMAP configuration for set-up in 3rd party clients, or on mobile devices, are not configurable for STUDENT Zimbra e-mail.

Students are suggested to use the Zimbra web interface at: 

https://mymail.ufv.ca/
