Zoom for Students

Zoom is a secure video conferencing platform that allows participants to collaborate, share screens, and conduct group activities from nearly any device. UFV Zoom accounts allow you to host and record meetings or simply participate by joining a previously scheduled Zoom meeting. People attending your meeting as participants will not require an account or license to join. 

Students can download and install Zoom on their computers or mobile phones or access it via the web browser.

Important!

  1. Zoom access for students is only available to students who are enrolled in the current semester course/s. If you are not enrolled in the current semester, you will receive an error message saying "You are not authorized to access this site..." when signing in using the steps provided below.
  2. UFV Zoom account will only let you sign in on one account only. If you are logged into Zoom in a browser, your login to the Zoom application will fail and vice-versa.

 

Installing Zoom on a Personal Device

  1. Visit https://ufv-ca.zoom.us/download Zoom client for meetings download
    ‘Zoom Client for Meetings’ is the download covered in this document.
  2. Click Download and wait for completion. Picture highlighting the download button in the zoom download center
  3. Each web browser may display the completion differently. (Example shown in Chrome). Initiate the installer by clicking the downloaded file. Picture showing the downloading of zoom
  4. Wait for the installation to complete. If there are any install errors, please contact the IT Service Desk.

 

Log in to Zoom Using a Web Browser

  1. Visit https://ufv-ca.zoom.us/

  3. Login with your credentials.
    • Username: UFV Student email address
    • Password: UFV Student Email Account Password
  4. Note: You might have to enter the authentication information for the MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication). UFV dialog box asking to sign in using UFV email address UFV dialog box asking for passwordUFV dialog box asking for verification code
  5. You should now be able to successfully log in to Zoom.

 

Log in to Zoom Desktop Application

  1. For personal devices, the Zoom application can be installed.
  2. On Windows, click the Start icon. Then type 'Zoom' in the search bar and then click Open.
    • On Mac, use the Search icon on the top right to find and open Zoom.  Search icon

  4. Put ufv-ca as a domain name.
  5. Login with your credentials as below:
    • Username: UFV Student email address
    • Password: UFV Student Email Account Password

  7. You should now be able to successfully log in to Zoom.
  8. Click on 'Open Zoom Meetings'. This will open the desktop app. Dialog box highlighting the option to open zoom meetings
  9. You are now successfully logged in. Zoom preview that you have successfully logged in

 

Log in to Zoom Using a Phone

  1. Open/install the Zoom Cloud meetings app on your phone (NoteThere are two Zoom apps - You would need the one with cloud meetings).    
  2. Navigate at the bottom to "Sign In With SSO". Snapshot highlighting the option to sign in with SSO
  3. Enter the company's domain: ufv-ca (Note - Zoom.us is already pre-filled).
  4. Sign in on the webpage with your credentials as below:
    • Username: UFV Student email address
    • Password: UFV Student Email Account Password UFV sign in box asking for UFV email address UFV sign in box asking for password UFV dialog box asking for verification code
  5. You should now be able to successfully log in to Zoom.
  6. Allow all notifications for the app.
