Reset your Password
Use SSPR (Microsoft Self-Service Password Reset) to reset your own password.
Note: You must be enrolled for SSPR before you can use this service. To register for SSPR, follow the steps at Multi-Factor Authentication.
Who can use SSPR?
Current students
Current employees
Retired employees
Alumni who completed their last UFV course less than a year ago.
Alumni who have not taken a class in over a year will need to request access.
When can't you use SSPR?
You can't use SSPR with a UFV third-party application that uses a non-UFV username.
Steps to reset your password
1. Go to Microsoft's website, Get back into your account .
2. In the User ID field, enter your UFV email address.
3. Complete the Captcha, if required.

4. Click Next.
5. Choose the verification option(s) you used when you first enrolled.

6. Enter your new password and re-enter it to confirm.

7. Click Finish to complete the process.
It is important to test your new password by logging into your UFV email and UFV application.
If you see the message, You can't reset your own password because you haven't registered for password reset, Contact IT Service Desk to help you reset your password.
Once your password is reset, log in and complete your steps for Multi-Factor Authentication.
Note: Also change your password for all other applications that use your student account password i.e. saved browser passwords and eduroam passwords for Wi-Fi connected laptop and phone devices.
When unlocking your account, you have two options:
reset your password and unlock your account; or
keep your same password and only unlock your account.
Note: The unlock account method requires you to have a personal email address registered on your myUFV account.
If needed, contact the Office of the Registrar to have your personal email address added or updated on your myUFV account.
Why is your account locked?
Security locks your account if you entered the wrong password too many times or there is a potential threat your account was compromised.
Steps to unlock your account
1. Go to password.ufv.ca.
2. In bottom half, under New Student, enter your 9-digit student number e.g. 300123456

3. Click Next to give consent to receiving an email to the personal email address you have on file with the Office of the Registrar.
4. Check your personal inbox and keep open the current browser with the email with the security code.
Note: If your email browser window closes, you will lose the code and then need to restart the unlock process for a new code.
5. Enter the security code from the email.

6. Click Next.
5. Choose an option, and follow those instructions:

Keep your password and only unlock your account
1. Click the option for Password Reset: Choose Your New Password and Unlock Your Account.
2. Enter a new password using security standards.

3. Once your password is successfully reset, click Log in to myUFV and login with your new password.
Note: Also remember to change your password for all other applications that use your student account password i.e. saved browser passwords and eduroam passwords for Wi-Fi connected laptop and phone devices.

1. Click the option for Account Unlock: Keep Your Current Password
2. Click Next.

3. Once your account is successfully unlocked, click Log in to myUFV and login with your current password.
