How to Export and Import Bookmarks - Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox

When you get a new computer or need to move to a different computer it is helpful to bring along your bookmarks from your previous computer. These outlines are focused on UFV's current setup of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox to help you Export and Import your Bookmarks easily.

 

Import and Export Google Chrome Bookmarks

  1. Open up Google ChromeMore button in the Google Chrome window
  2. Click the More button in the top right corner of the window.
  3. Mouse over Bookmarks and then Click Bookmark ManagerGoogle Chrome window with Bookmarks option expanded
  4. In the new Bookmarks tab that opens up, click on the More button on the right side of the screen.
  5. Click on Import Bookmarks or Export Bookmarks based on what you want to do. Import bookmarks and export bookmarks options in the drop-down list
  6. Either locate the HTML file for your Bookmarks or choose a location to save your Bookmark HTML file.

 

Import and Export Mozilla Firefox Bookmarks

  1. Open Mozilla FirefoxLibrary button on the Mozilla Firefox home page
  2. Click the Library button near the top right corner of the window.
  3. Click on the Bookmarks section at the top. Bookmarks option from the drop-down list
  4. Next, click Show All Bookmarks at the bottom. Show all bookmarks option from the drop-down list
  5. In the new window that appears, click on the Import and Backup drop-down menu at the top.Import and Backup drop-down list on the top of the Library window
  6. Finally, click on Import Bookmarks from HTML… or Export Bookmarks to HTML… depending on what you want to do. Both options will require you to find a location either to save your HTML Bookmark file or to open your HTML Bookmark file. Import and Backup drop-down menu with import bookmarks and export bookmarks options
