LabStat Remote Access (RDP) to UFV Student Computer Lab

This guide provides instructions for students on how to remote into UFV Student lab computers using RDP (LabStats) from a personal computer (Windows on MAC).

 

RDP on Windows

The instructions below show how to access UFV computer labs remotely from home on a Windows Computer.

  1. Click on https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/ufv to display a list of computer labs available. Picture showing list of computers available
  2. Click to select a computer lab for remote access. e.g. Abbotsford: D226. Picture highlighting a computer available in room D226
  3. The number of available workstations show at the top. In this example 37 computers are available in Abbotsford: D226. Picture showing total number of computers available in a particular room
  4. Pick any available workstation and click Connect e.g. AD226W1730. Picture highlighting the connect option to connect to a particular computer
  5. Click Download to open the connection file. Picture highlighting download option to open the connection file
  6. Select Open with Remote Desktop connection (default) and Do this automatically for files like this from now on > OK. Picture highlighting options to open with remote desktop connection and do this automatically for files like this from now on
  7. To allow the remote connection, click Connect to accept the unsigned certificate to proceed with the remote desktop connection. Picture highlighting the connect option to accept the unsigned certificate to proceed the remote desktop connection.
  8. Enter student computer account credentials to connect:
    • Your username is your student email address.
    • Your password will be the same as your myUFV password. Dialog box asking to enter your login credentials
  9. Now you have successfully connected to D226 Computer Lab, workstation, AD226W1730. Picture of desktop of a successfully connected computer
  10. To disconnect from the remote session, Sign out as you would normally.

 

RDP on MAC

The instructions below show how to access UFV computer labs remotely from home on Mac:

  1. Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop Tool.
    • Note: Microsoft Remote Desktop tool is only compatible with MacOS 10.14 or later. Image of Mac App Store preview for Microsoft Remote Desktop app
  2. Click on https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/ufv to display a list of computer labs. Picture listing the available computer labs

  5. Pick any available workstation and click Connect e.g. AA245W1816. Picture highlighting computers available in room A245

  8. Enter student computer account credentials to connect
    • Your username is your student ID number located on your campus card.
    • Your password will be the same as your myUFV password Dialog box asking to enter your login credentials
  9. To allow the remote connection, click Continue to accept the certificate to proceed to remotely connect to the lab computer. Picture highlighting the Continue option to accept the certificate to proceed to remotely connect to the lab compute

  11. To disconnect from the remote session, Sign out as you would normally.
