Remote Connect to Student Lab

This guide provides instructions for students on how to remote into UFV Student lab computers using RDP (LabStats) from a personal computer (Windows on MAC).

RDP on Windows

The instructions below show how to access UFV computer labs remotely from home on a Windows Computer.

1. Click on https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/ufv to display a list of computer labs available. 
2. Click to select a computer lab for remote access. e.g. Abbotsford: D226. 
3. The number of available workstations show at the top. In this example 37 computers are available in Abbotsford: D226. 
4. Pick any available workstation and click Connect e.g. AD226W1730. 
5. Click Download to open the connection file. 
6. Select Open with Remote Desktop connection (default) and Do this automatically for files like this from now on > OK. 
7. To allow the remote connection, click Connect to accept the unsigned certificate to proceed with the remote desktop connection. 
8. Enter student computer account credentials to connect:
   • Your username is your student email address.
   • Your password will be the same as your myUFV password. 
9. Now you have successfully connected to D226 Computer Lab, workstation, AD226W1730. 
10. To disconnect from the remote session, Sign out as you would normally.

RDP on MAC

The instructions below show how to access UFV computer labs remotely from home on Mac:

1. Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop Tool.
   • Note: Microsoft Remote Desktop tool is only compatible with MacOS 10.14 or later. 
2. Click on https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/ufv to display a list of computer labs. 
3. Click to select a computer lab for remote access. e.g. Abbotsford: A245. 
4. The number of available workstations show at the top. In this example 24 computers are available in Abbotsford: A245. 
5. Pick any available workstation and click Connect e.g. AA245W1816. 
6. Click Download to open the connection file. 
7. Click the downloaded remote desktop connection file to connect to the workstation. In this example, AA245W1816.rdp 
8. Enter student computer account credentials to connect
   • Your username is your student ID number located on your campus card.
   • Your password will be the same as your myUFV password 
9. To allow the remote connection, click Continue to accept the certificate to proceed to remotely connect to the lab computer. 
10. Now you have successfully connected to A245 Computer Lab, workstation, AA245W1816. 
11. To disconnect from the remote session, Sign out as you would normally.

RDP on Chromebook

The instructions below show how to access UFV computer labs remotely from home on Chromebook:

1. Open the Google Play store on your device and search for the Microsoft Remote Desktop app
   
2. Verify that the app is available for your device
   
3. Select Install to install the app, selecting the proper device if prompted
   
4. Click on https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/ufv to display a list of computer labs available. 
    
5. Click to select a computer lab for remote access. e.g. Abbotsford: D226 
6. The number of available workstations show at the top. In this example 37 computers are available in Abbotsford: D226. 
7. Pick any available workstation and click Connect e.g. AD226W1730. 
8. Click Download to open the connection file. 
9. Open the downloaded connection file and navigate through any prompts. When prompted for credentials, your username is your student email address and your password will be the same as your myUFV password.
