Having Issues Remote Connect to Student Lab Computers using Mac

UFV Students can now connect remotely to computer labs, allowing them to access campus resources from home. This article provide instructions on troubleshooting issues in remotely connecting to lab computers from Mac Computer.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Download RDP file from https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/ufv.
  2. Once downloaded, run the file directly and enter following credentials.
    Username – AD-UFV\Student_ID. (e.g. AD-UFV\30012345)
    Password – myUFV password
  3. If running the file directly doesn’t give an option to enter username (or is grayed out) or gives an error message try next steps:
  4. Drag and drop the downloaded file in the Microsoft Remote Desktop application window. This will quickly add the lab workstation to the PC's list.
  5. Click on settings icon and choose ‘Preferences’.

  6. Edit Following information:

    1. Under ‘User Accounts’ add username ‘ad-ufv\30012345’.

    2. Under ‘Gateways’ add 'Gateway Name' rdl.ufv.ca

    3. Under 'Gateways' ->  'User account' select the account you added in step 1 from the drop-down menu as shown below:

  7. Connect to the lab workstation again.

If following the above steps, still gives you an error or you are unable to connect to computer lab. Please submit a ticket with IT Service Desk and provide following information in the ticket:

  • MAC OS version
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop version
  • Screenshot of the error message
