Wireless (Wi-Fi) Eduroam Services

Current UFV students and employees can connect and use wireless internet services on UFV campuses using eduroam wireless.

Eduroam credentials can also be used at other participating research and educational institutions who have eduroam wi-fi configured. 

Account information

Student username
Student Email address
i.e. FirstName.LastName@student.ufv.ca (Example: jane.doe@student.ufv.ca)

Employee username
Employee email address
i.e. FirstName.LastName@ufv.ca (Example: john.doe@ufv.ca) 

Instructions

The instructions to connect to eduroam can vary for different devices.  Choose your device from the list below to link to specific instructions:

At any time you require help with your wireless setup, contact IT Service Desk.

If UFV is not your home university, please seek instruction from IT help services at your own institution.

Android/Chromebook

  1. Open Wi-fi Settings
  2. Search and connect to the network eduroam
  3. Fill in the fields using the following information
  • EAP Method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
  • Server CA Certificate: Do Not Validate
  • User Certificate: None Installed
  • Identity: UFV Student/Employee Email
  • Password: Employee/Student account password
  1. Leave the remaining fields blank

Apple Devices (iPhone, iPad, Macbooks)

  1. Open wi-fi settings
  2. Select eduroam
  3. Enter UFV student/employee email and password

  1. Enter Macbook password if prompted (only for Macbooks)
  2. Click on "Trust" if prompted to trust the certificate

  1. You should now be connected to eduroam wi-fi
     

Windows laptop or tablet

  1. Open wi-fi settings and connect to the wi-fi network eduroam-help
  2. Open a browser and go to https://cat.eduroam.org/
  3. Choose Click here to download your eduroam installer
  4. Select University of the Fraser Valley as your organization

  5. Your device type will be automatically detected
  6. Click the blue eduroam button to download the installer to your device
  7. After the download completes, launch the installer file
  8. Click Next and follow setup wizard steps

  9. Enter your UFV credentials
  10. Click Install

  11. If you get a Security Warning asking, Do you want to install this certificate?, click Yes

  12. After installation completes, click Finish. Your device should be ready to connect to eduroam

If the above methods do not work

In cases of certain Android phones, like Google Pixel phones, the above method might not work. For those devices:

  1. Ensure you have internet access
  2. Open Google Playstore
  3. Search for the geteduroam app
  4. Install the app
  5. Run and configure the app:
    1. Select University of the Fraser Valley for your institution
    2. Enter your eduroam credentials
  6. You should now be connected to eduroam
