Overview
Developed by the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), Canadian Shield is a free DNS security service that blocks access to malicious websites, phishing scams, and other online threats before they can do harm. It’s privacy-focused and built specifically for Canadians.
Note: Canadian Shield is intended for personal home networks and personal devices, like your laptop or phone. The UFV networks and UFV managed devices are already protected, so there is no need to install these extensions on a UFV managed device.
Why Use It?
- Easy to set up on phones, laptops, and home Wi-Fi
- No upfront cost, no subscription, no ads, no data selling.
- Blocks harmful websites automatically, using high confidence threat information shared by the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS)
