Blackboard Ally

Overview

Blackboard Ally is an accessibility application designed to improve the accessibility of digital course content within Blackboard. Ally provides course content in accessible formats, including electronic braille and audio files. Ally is integrated in myClass (Blackboard) for easier student access and seamless integration into the GradeCenter. 

This application is supported by the Teaching and Learning Centre.

  • Instructor feedback: Guide instructors on how to improve the accessibility of their course content and alter future behavior. 
  • Alternative formats: Automatically check for accessibility issues and generate alternative accessible formats using advanced Machine Learning algorithms. 
  • Institutional reporting: Provides administrators with detailed reports on the accessibility of course content across the institution, helping to track progress and meet accessibility goals. 
  • Integration with LMS: Seamlessly integrates with Blackboard, making it easy to use within existing workflows. 
  • Student empowerment: Empowers students by allowing them to choose the format that best suits their learning preferences, fostering a more inclusive educational environment.

Access to Blackboard Ally can be requested by contacting the Teaching and Learning Centre.
