Microsoft Teams for a Course

Overview

Instructors can use this service to request that a Microsoft Team be created for their course.  Once created, the Team members will automatically be synchronized with the class roster in Banner.  Instructors can specify when they would like the student membership to be added to the team (i.e., term, course, or a custom start date) and when they would like the student membership to be removed (i.e., term, course, or a custom end date).  NOTE:  Students will be added to the Team on the date you specify on the form.  Team membership is synchronized with Banner on a nightly basis. 

Information Required

UFV instructors can complete the Microsoft Teams for a Course form to request creation of a Microsoft Team for their course.  Please provide the following information when filling out the form: 

  • Name of the primary instructor (Note that all instructors for the course will be designated as "owners" of the team.)
  • Department of the primary instructor
  • CRN
  • Term code (e.g., 202109)
  • Start date: The date you would like to add students to the Team (e.g., term, course, or custom start date). NOTE:  Students will be added to the Team on the date you specify on the form.  Team membership is synchronized with Banner on a nightly basis.    
  • End date:  The date you would like to remove students from the Team (e.g., term, course, or custom end date)

You may enter up to three CRNs on a single form.  Students will be removed from the Team at the time designated on the form; however, instructors will continue to have access to the Team for two years at which time the Team will be deleted.

Instructions

Complete all required fields on the Microsoft Teams for a Course form.  You may enter up to three CRNs per form.  

Once submitted, the IT Service Desk will assess your request and create your Team.  Please allow 1-2 business days for your request to be completed.  The IT Service Desk will let you know when your Team is created.
