UFV DNS Firewall

UFV is working with the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) to help make browsing the internet safer. CIRA proactively identifies and blocks malicious websites. These websites can consist of phishing or malware.

If a website is blocked, you will be presented with one of the two following webpages:

A website I need has been blocked. How can I access it?

If you have encountered a blocked webpage that you think is safe and would like to access, please submit a ticket to the Service Desk with the following information:

  • What is the website / URL you are trying to access?
  • Have you visited this website before?
  • What is the reason you need access to this site (education, course planning, research, etc.)?
  • What is the urgency of this request?

If the website has been falsely blocked, our third-party can re-assess the website and remove it from the block list. This typically takes up to 2 business days.

I have other questions...

Please reach out to the Service Desk or the Cybersecurity team (cybersecurity@ufv.ca) and we will be happy to assist.
