Overview

UFV Students can now connect remotely to computer labs, allowing them to access campus resources from home. This article provides instructions on troubleshooting issues in remotely connecting to lab computers from Mac computers.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Download RDP file from https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/ufv.
  • Once downloaded, run the file directly and enter the following credentials.
    Username – AD-UFV\Student_ID. (e.g. AD-UFV\30012345)
    Password – myUFV password
  • If running the file directly doesn’t give an option to enter the username (or is grayed out) or gives an error message try the next steps:

  1. Drag and drop the downloaded file in the Microsoft Remote Desktop application window. This will quickly add the lab workstation to the PC's list.
    Microsoft Remote Desktop window
  2. Click on the settings icon and choose Preferences.

Preferences option in the drop-down menu

  3. Edit Following information:

    1. Under User Accounts add username ad-ufv\30012345.

User accounts tab under Preferences window

    2. Under Gateways add Gateway Name rdl.ufv.ca

      Gateways tab under Preferences window

    3. Under Gateways ->  User account select the account you added in Step 1 from the drop-down menu as shown below:
      Drop-down menu under user account

  4. Connect to the lab workstation again.

Enter your user account dialog box

If following the above steps, still gives you an error or you are unable to connect to the computer lab. Please submit a ticket to IT Service Desk and provide the following information in the ticket:

  • MAC OS version
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop version
  • Screenshot of the error message
