UFV employees travelling outside of Canada for business will incur roaming expenses when using a UFV-issued mobile. If the roaming expense is for a personal trip, you may be required to reimburse the UFV for these overages.
Rogers Flex Roaming Plan (Automatically applied)
All UFV Rogers mobile users have a Flex Roaming Plan that is automatically applied to their account and is charged on a tier-level system, based on usage. As you use voice, data, and/or text services while roaming, you will automatically move to the next tier and your monthly bill will be charged accordingly. This feature ensures devices will have a cost-effective package automatically activated and eliminates the need to submit a request.

Roam Like Home (Alternative to Flex Roaming Plan)
This feature allows users to use the data/voice available with their regular plan in countries other than Canada for a daily fee while traveling. The daily fee while traveling in the US is $12/day. The daily fee while traveling internationally is $15/day. For those who frequently travel for work, the Roam Like Home feature may be preferred over the Rogers Flex Roaming Plan.
To add on this feature to your current mobile device plan, contact its.communications@ufv.ca. For new mobile device plans, please select the Roam Like Home feature option when submitting the Mobile Device Purchase / Upgrade request.

Optional Add-On
Additional features can be added to a UFV mobile user’s account but must be authorized on the service request when requesting the device and plan. The following add-on is available when required:
Unlimited US Calling and SMS/MMS: This add-on allows users to have unlimited US calling and unlimited SMS/MMS to the US and Internationally while in Canada for an additional charge of $2.00 per month.
Monthly Billing Report
Accounts Payable will send out a spreadsheet to each department with a summary of the Rogers mobility devices that incurred charges for the billing period ending on the 12th of each month. Total amounts are charged to the specific budget code noted in the spreadsheet provided. If you have questions regarding your account or invoice, contact its.communications@ufv.ca.
Managing Data while Travelling
Employees can text 4444 then type “data” in the message and receive a text showing your usage up to that date.
