TelemetryTV - Onboard / Offboard Department

Creating new departments is something that will now be happening infrequently. The name for the department and folders will be decided by the overseeing ITS Director when the request has been submitted.

Firstly, create a named folder for the department named in the following places:

  • Devices
  • Playlists
  • Apps
  • Media

 

Make sure that no checkmarks are set at this point when making the folders.

Then, create a group for them on TelemetryTV. For this, we usually prefix it with DEPT- to show them as being a department rather than a special team like Emergency Communications or administrators.

Give the department these following permissions:

Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Go through each tab and deselect all until they show 🚫

Lastly, set up the departments' permissions as such:

 

App:

  • Departments: R
  • Department/<name>: RW
  • UFV Shared Apps: R

 

Media:

  • Departments: R
  • Departments/<name>: RW
  • UFV Shared Media: R
  • UFV Shared Media/Logo Wallpapers: R

 

Webapp:

<nothing... needs to be selected>

 

Playlist:

  • Departments: R
  • Departments/<name>: RW
  • UFV Shared Playlists: R

 

Organization:

  • Departments: ✅
  • Departments/<name>: ✅

 

Now you're able to set up users and/or add them to the department.

 

Remember to check the permissions for the IT Service Desk group/department to make sure they have access to read the new department's playlists and devices

 

Removing departments

This will most likely not need to be done often. It would most likely be best to remove their media files and leave the department folders and permissions as they are.
