MFA Security for UFV Account Protection

Summary

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds a security layer to protect UFV computer accounts.

Body

Overview

MFA adds a layer of security to your accounts by requiring a second factor to verify your identity when signing in, accessing sensitive information, or resetting your password. Your sign-in is protected by two things: something you know (your email address and password), and something you have (e.g., a 6-digit code from your phone).

How to Register

1) In a web browser, go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup and sign in with your UFV account. If you are not automatically prompted to add a method, click + Add method.

2)  Choose your multi-factor verification method: an authenticator app, a passkey, or a physical security key (no phone required).

Note: Email can only be used for self-service password reset. If you choose to setup email, you will need to add another method (authenticator app or security key) to use for multi-factor authentication.

3) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete registration.
