Review Your Recent UFV Sign-in Activity

Summary

Review your sign-in history to check for any unusual activity such as someone trying to guess your password or trying to sign into your account.

Body

Overview

If you get an email about unusual activity on your UFV account, or if you’re worried that someone else might have used your account, you can go to the Recent Activity page (https://mysignins.microsoft.com/). You’ll see when your UFV account was signed in during the last 30 days and what application was accessed, along with device information like what browser was used, the device IP address, and the approximate location.

How to review your recent Sign-in activity

To go directly to your sign-in history, go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/. Your sign in history will appear for your review.

  • You can also get to your Recent Activity page from your account page (https://myaccount.microsoft.com/) and clicking on "My sign ins" in the left hand menu (or the "My sign ins" tile).

An example sign in is shown below:

I see a sign-in that I don't recognize. What do I do?

If you see an unrecognized sign-in, it could mean that an attacker was trying to guess your password. To secure your account, click the link within the sign in activity that says "Look unfamiliar? Secure your account". This will help you do two things:

  1. Change your password to something unique and complex. If you need help, see how to reset your UFV password.
  2. Review your security information (MFA methods) to ensure that you recognize what methods are registered to your account. If you see a method that you don't recognize, remove it.

You can also let us know of the activity, and ask any questions, by emailing cybersecurity@ufv.ca.
