Use tags to find relevant answers
Tags group related items with descriptive keyword(s).
In the KB article creation process, it is very important to assign tags to describe a KB article.
Tags make it easier for search engines and internal search functions to index and retrieve relevant articles based on user queries:
- Searches will use tags to find related KBs of the same type that do not live in the same space.
- Tags will surface items with the exact match of tag.
- Clicking on a KB tag will display items that share the tag.
Note: Tags must use the same exact tag with the same exact syntax - having too many similar tags will not help surface similar items,
Your ITS Team may want to determine a set of common tags for use to increase consistency in articles.
Create a tag
Before creating a new tag, first look for a tag that is already in use for similar entries.
If no appropriate tag already exists, a new tag can be added by typing it into the field.
Spaces between words are not supported in tags.
- To create a tag with multiple words use a hyphen (i.e., "account-creation").
- Hyphens within tags will be treated as spaces in search results.
Be specific and limit your use of tags to allow for better search results.
The tag will be automatically saved when the entry is saved.
