Direct Award Justification

Overview

A Direct Award (DA) is the award of goods or services without conducting an open, transparent, and non-discriminatory competitive process to select the supplier as required by the various Trade Agreements that UFV must adhere to. Trade Agreements permit DA only under certain exceptional circumstances. The Direct Award Intake must be submitted for all DA requests above $75,000, for goods and services, and $200,000, for construction, and must be approved in advance by Procurement Services prior to authorizing a supplier to proceed.

IMPORTANT: Final approval from the Director, Supply Chain is required before an award is made to any supplier.

You will need to include the following important information as part of your request:

  • Point of contact for the request
  • Description of purchase
  • Recommended supplier
  • Procurement type
  • Reason for the request
  • Budget / index code
  • Spending authority of the budget / index code
