Summary

Backup your existing UFV iPhone mobile device before moving to a newer UFV iPhone device.

Note: If your new UFV iPhone is the first UFV iPhone you have received and you do not need to backup your data from an existing device, refer to this KB article.

For iCloud backup → Apple ID needed

Before replacing your UFV iPhone, use Wi-Fi to back up your personal data on your current device using Apple's cloud service.

To use iCloud for backup or syncing, you must be signed into your Apple account.

Note: To create an Apple account, visit the official Apple website and follow the instructions in their support article.

Complete backup or specific backup

Note: It is your responsibility to set up sync to iCloud on your current device and backup any personal data such as photos, applications, text, calendar, notes, etc. you want to keep.

To back up your entire iPhone, go to Complete iCloud Backup section.
To sync specific app data like contacts, passwords, and calendars, go to Specific iCloud Backup section.

Complete iCloud Backup

1. On your existing phone, go to Settings and click your name.

2. Click iCloud.

3. Click iCloud Backup.

4. Toggle the Back Up This iPhone switch to green.

Note: Stay connected to your Wi-Fi network until the process ends which may take a few minutes.

5. Under Back Up Now, you can verify your data by seeing your last backup date and time.

Note: If you don't have enough iCloud storage space available to do a complete backup, consider either purchasing more storage space or following the instructions below to sync only some of your data to iCloud.
