AUG Confirmation of Enrolment

Overview

Please note, AUG processing may take up to 4 weeks – apply in advance!

This grant program, funded by the province and not needing repayment, helps cover certain costs for students taking courses in our Upgrading and University Preparation department.

Eligibility

You must meet all 4 criteria: 

  1. Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident/landed immigrant, or protected person
  2. Live in BC (and continue to reside in BC while receiving AUG)
  3. Be enrolling in one or more of the following approved courses:
    1. Adult Basic Education (ABE) – upgrading classes numbered 050-099
    2. Workplace TASK program (AET)
    3. ESL – English as a Second Language
  4. Have a demonstrated financial need (see table of family income limits on form)

What expenses are eligible to be covered?

  • Mandatory Fees (Ancillary, ELW, & Student Union and Society fees)
  • Textbooks
  • Supplies
  • Technology
  • Transportation
  • Unsubsidized Childcare
  • Tuition for Workplace TASK program

Note: Room and board costs are not funded

How to apply?

  1. Go to StudentAid BC AUG page
    1. Download the pdf fillable form at the bottom of the page.
    2. Complete the application in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Please ensure you are using Adobe to view and not your browser as it may not save your changes. *It is easier to fill out the form using a PC or laptop rather than on your phone.
    3. Complete form (digital signature is allowed) using our AUG Check List and save as a PDF.
    4. If preferred, you can pick up a paper copy at the Financial Aid office.
  2. Email your completed application to financial.aid@ufv.ca or drop off at the Financial Aid office on either campus (Abbotsford or Chilliwack)
  3. Emailed copy must be sent as a pdf attachment. Photos (jpeg, png) or links to shared drives will not be accepted. 
  4. Attach scanned copies of all required documentation.  Proof of income must accompany your application:
    1. A copy of your previous year’s CRA Notice of Assessment
    2. If you did not file income tax, a copy of T4 slips, pay stubs, ROE etc.
    3. If you had no income in 2024, provide a signed statement explaining why
    4. Will also require spouse or parent proof of income if applicable
  5. Once submitted, we will contact you within 4 weeks by email. 

Continuing next semester?

As a prior recipient of the Adult Upgrading Grant during this academic year, you must submit “AUG Confirmation of Enrolment” form to receive continued funding to cover University fees. You may also be awarded book and supply costs.

Note: Applicants must have previously submitted an Adult Upgrading Grant application within this current academic year to fill this form.
