What students need to know about the new student application system for full-time applications?
June 19 (Before 3:00 PM PST): Last opportunity to submit 2025/26 applications in Student Dashboard.
- Students can submit full-time applications for the 2025/26 academic program year (August 1, 2025 – July 31, 2026) through the Student Dashboard in SFAS until 3:00 PM on June 19.
- Applications submitted by this deadline will continue to be processed in SFAS.
- Any applications that have been started but not submitted by 3:00 PM on June 19 will be cancelled and students will be notified to submit their application through the new SIMS Student Account.
June 20-22: Transition period - Systems are temporarily unavailable.
- StudentAid BC application systems will be unavailable while the transition to the new system is completed.
- During this time, StudentAid BC will make updates to the website and login page.
June 23 Onwards: New student application system opens for all students.
- Students can submit their applications through the new SIMS Student Account starting on June 23.
- This includes applications for the 2025/26 program year (if not previously submitted), and applications for the 2026/27 program year (August 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027).
Note: Last day to submit in the current Student Dashboard is June 19, 2026 at 3:00 PM (PST). After this date, StudentAid BC will close the legacy full-time Student Financial Assistance System (SFAS) application. New applications open in the new student application system starting June 23.
What happens to your application?
Already submitted a complete application?
It will continue to be processed. No action needed - keep using your current Student Dashboard to manage it.
Started but NOT submitted by June 19?
Your draft will be cancelled. You'll need to re-apply through the new student application system starting June 23.
Summer students (May - Aug 2026)
If you can't submit your 2025/26 summer application through the current Dashboard before June 19, you can apply starting June 23 through the new student application system.
Note: If you are a part-time student or an early access full-time student already using SIMS, you can continue your StudentAid BC application there as usual.
How to prepare now?
Student Checklist
- Ensure your BC Services Card account is setup at gov.bc.ca/bcservicescard.
- Create your new student account profile at www.studentaidbc.ca before June 23 - SIN validation can take up to 72 hours.
- If you have a draft application in your Student Dashboard, submit it before 3:00 PM on June 19.
- Starting June 23, apply for funding through the new student application system.
- Have your SIN, income info, and school details ready.
