Overview
The Outlook Junk Items folder holds suspected spam and junk for your review. Where possible, we try not to block suspected spam emails, and instead, they are sent to the Junk folder for your review.
We recommend that you regularly review messages in the Junk folder, and re-categorize emails if they are found to be not junk. Doing so helps to improve future spam detections.
Where is the Junk folder?
The Junk folder is a default folder in your UFV student or employee mailbox. Log into your email using the Outlook desktop app, or through a browser at outlook.com. A list of your folders is visible on the left-hand side - find the folder called Junk E-mail (or Junk Items), and click to open it.
I'm getting junk mail. How do I mark it as junk?

If it's already in the Junk folder, then the Junk folder is doing its job, and there is no further action you need to take. Simply leave it in the Junk folder.

If it went to your inbox or another folder, you can classify it as junk by dragging the email into the Junk folder. The more you categorize, the better your spam filter learns. You can also set up an inbox rule to automatically move messages from certain senders or mailing lists to the Junk Items folder.
Valid email is in my Junk folder. How do I mark it as not junk?
You can simply drag the email to your Inbox or any other folder. If you frequently contact this sender or domain, you can also add them to your Safe Senders List, which will never send their emails to Junk:

To never mark emails from a particular sender as Junk, add them to your Safe Senders list. See the instructions for your version of Outlook:
Outlook Desktop App
1. In the Home tab of the Ribbon, find the Junk tab. You may find it in the ellipsis menu (...) at the top right of the screen.
2. Hover over Junk and click Junk E-mail Options...
3. In the Junk E-mail Options window, click the Safe Senders tab:
4. Click the Add button to add a new sender address. Use either the full email address (example@domain.com) to exempt only one email address, or the domain (domain.com) to exempt all emails from that domain.
Outlook on the Web (Outlook.com)
1. Click the gear icon in the top right hand of the screen.
2. At the bottom of the options list, click View all Outlook settings.
3. In the Settings window, go to the Mail tab, then Junk email. Under Safe senders and domains, click +Add.
